Application for scholarships for Euroepi 2006
Dear participant,
On this page you will find information about how to apply for a scholarship in relation to the IEA EEF European Congress of Epidemiology 2006. Read the instructions mentioned below very carefully.
Scholarship
The scholarship consists of a full/partial financial compensation.
Please, keep in mind that you will be reimbursed AFTER the meeting and that you will need to pay in advance your expenses.
After you have had a positive reply on your application, you will receive a form to fill in with your bank data, a scholarship Acceptance Letter to sign, and the IEA membership form to fill in.
How to apply for a scholarship
- Fill out the scholarship application form
- Send the form together with your cv to: euroepi@fbu.uu.nl
- After receiving a confirmation letter about acceptance of your abstract, you still have one month to apply
- It is possible to apply in advance
Criteria
You can apply for a scholarship if:
- Your paper or poster has accepted for presentation at the meeting. It is possible to apply in advance, but your application will be withdrawn when your abstract is rejected.
- You are a citizen of a low-income country according to the WHO criteria, without obvious alternative resources. You are neither working or resident in middle or high-income countries at the time of application, nor employed (temporarily or permanently) by international organisations such as WHO, PAHO etc, on the assumption that funding should be available from their host organisation.
- You are below the age of 40 years old provided that there are no exceptional circumstances.
- You are an epidemiologist in practice, teaching or research.
Furthermore:
- Assessment of commitment to an epidemiological career should include a review of training and employment history (e.g. a list completed on the application form).
- IEA membership is NOT a prerequisite for a scholarship, though it may be taken into account if there are two or more candidates equally deserving on other criteria.
- A recipient of a scholarship is required to acknowledge the scholarship in any publication of the material presented at the meeting for which the scholarship was given. A form of words which may be used is: This work was presented at IEA EEF European Congress of Epidemiology 2006 with the support of a full (partial) bursary provided by the International Epidemiological Association. Scholarships may pay for all aspects of participation in a meeting or may be partial, consisting for example of only travel or hotel accommodation or registration waiver.
Selection
- The organising committee will collect all the application letters.
- The committee will evaluate the applications and decide which applicant will get a scholarship.
- All the applicant will be informed by email about the decision.
